Using the Touch Detail Reports

ExakTime Connect offers three Touch Detail reports: Employee Touch Detail, Employee GPS Touch Detail, and Location Touch Detail. The Touch Detail reports are the most informative reports within ExakTime Connect in terms of reports dedicated to time records. Both versions of the report look similar to the Time Card Details page under Time Cards within Connect.

Employee Touch Detail displays the specifics of every touch for each employee, including location, cost code, and start/stop times.

Employee GPS Touch Detail displays GPS details for every ExakTime Mobile punch, including distance to location and whether or not the punch was inside the GeoFence. This is useful for verifying that employees are on a job site when punching in or out. This report requires the location address and/or latitude/longitude coordinates to set up a GeoFence. Location Touch Detail displays details of every touch for all employees for each work day at a given location.

To access the Employee Touch Detail variations, go to Reports and expand the Employee section on the left. Select GPS Touch Detail or Touch Detail.

Like other reports, select the date range you want to view. Adjust any settings in Formatting as needed including showing time in "decimal" or "hours & minutes format." Apply any Filters to exclude Employees, Locations, or Cost Codes as necessary. For more information on filters, check out our guide on Report Filters.

Employee Touch Detail

Before running the report, it is always a good idea to note the Report Specific Options, as there additional settings that may provide useful information on the report. Employee Touch Details offers the following:

  • Show Employee ID: Have the report include employee IDs
  • Show Location ID: Have the report show location IDs
  • Show Cost Code ID: Include Code Cost IDs on the report
  • Sort by: Sort the employees shown by their names or IDs
  • Separate Names and IDs with: Parse the name and ID columns using one of four available options
  • Show Signature Line: Add a signature line to the report allowing employees to sign-off on the Time Card; use the text box to input a message to appear below the signature line
  • Show Mobile Approval Signature: Choose to show signatures captured when an employee approves time through ExakTime Mobile; note, enabling this will force the report to group the information by pay period 
  • Show overtime hours: Breaks time totals into Regular, Overtime, and Overtime 2
  • Show incomplete records: Enable to show records that may be missing a start or stop punch
  • Group by Category: Group included employees by categories in the report. For additional information on categories, see the article: Categories 
  • Show extra record details and legend: Enable legend at the bottom of the report that details what certain elements mean; for example: "Italics: Created by office"
  • Show comments: show time card comments on report
  • Show each Employee on a separate page: Only show one employee's time per page; one employee can have multiple pages tied to them

Employee GPS Touch Detail

The GPS Touch Detail report is used to review the relative position of the mobile device used to clock in/out in comparison with the GeoFence of their location. It also has its a different set of Report Specific Options.

  • Show Employee ID: Includes employee IDs
  • Show Location ID: Shows location IDs
  • Show Cost Code ID: Includes Code Cost IDs
  • Sort by: Sort the employees shown by their names or IDs
  • Separate Names and IDs with: Parse the name and ID columns using one of four available options
  • Group by Category: Group included employees by categories in the report. For additional information on categories, see the article: Categories 
  • Show each Employee on a separate page: Only show one employee's time per page; one employee can have multiple pages tied to them
  • Show incomplete records: Enable to show records that may be missing a start or stop punch
  • Show extra record details and legend: Enable legend at the bottom of the report that details what certain elements mean; for example: "Italics: Created by office"
  • Show comments: show time card comments on report

The report includes identifiers next to each punch indicating their positioning in relation to the GeoFence.

  • OK: The mobile device was within the GeoFence of the location at the time of clocking in/out.
  • No Fix: There was no location data associated with the clock in/out.
  • Not Set: The location lacks a GeoFence
  • Distance in Red: The distance of the mobile device from the edge of the GeoFence from the location.

Location Touch Detail

This report groups the information by Location and looks similar to the "Location View" on the Time Card Details screen. It also has its own set of Report Specific Options.
