Updating SyncCenter and Your FastTrakker Pro for 2021

The update for the FastTrakker Pro is now available via SyncCenter to correct date/time issues present in 2021. A new version of SyncCenter is required in order to get the update pushed on the FastTrakker Pro, and you can find a link to download the latest version below. Please be aware that this tool will only function if you are using the ExakTime Connect platform.

Please note that this process will correct the date and time on the clocks going forward, but is not able to retroactively correct any punches that the clocks recorded with a 1970's date. Regrettably, due to the nature of the issue that caused this behavior, we recommend manually filling in the time cards for users that are missing punches.

Uninstalling SyncCenter

You will first need to uninstall the current version of SyncCenter. Depending on your computer permissions, you may need to consult with your computer administrator or IT professional. The steps provided are intended for Windows 10.

  1. Click the "Start" icon from your taskbar.


  2. Click the gear icon to open your Settings window.


  3. Click Apps.


  4. Search for "ExakTime SyncCenter."


  5. Click ExakTime SyncCenter and click Uninstall, then Uninstall again. 


  6. Once SyncCenter has been uninstalled, you can install the newer version.
Installing SyncCenter
  1. Use the link provided below to download the latest version of SyncCenter. The name of the installation file is "SyncCenterForConnect45."

  2. After the file has been downloaded, run the installation file.
    • Windows SmartScreen may prompt that it does not recognize the application.
      This can be expected as the application is new. To install anyway, click More Info...


    • Click Run Anyway.


  3. Click Next to begin.


  4. If you see the following message:
    • "This installation may require additional dependencies. Without its dependencies, ExakTime SyncCenter may not work correctly. Would you like to find the original SyncCenter.exe?"
    you can press NO on this window and continue the installation.


  5. If you accept our license agreement, click the button next to "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and click Next.


  6. You can select the folder that ExakTime SyncCenter will install into. By default, it will go to "C:\Program Files (X86)\ExakTime\SyncCenter\". You can click Change... if you want to install to a different folder. Click Next when finished.


  7. Select if you want ExakTime SyncCenter to automatically open when Windows starts. By default, it will be checked on. Click Next when finished.


  8. If you are okay with your previous selections, press Install.


  9. If you see the following message:
    • "The installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 1 Redistributable Package (X64) appears to have failed. Do you want to continue with the installation?"

    you can press Yes. It commonly appears if you already have Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 1 Redistributable Package (X64) installed on your computer.


  10. After the installation has completed, you will have the option to launch SyncCenter. Click Finish to complete your installation and begin using SyncCenter.


Setting Up SyncCenter
  1. Upon opening SyncCenter for the first time, click Get Started.


  2. On the following window, click Activate.


  3. On the following window, you will be asked for your Activation Code. This can be obtained from your ExakTime Connect account on the Dashboard or from the Mobile Devices area under Manage.



  4. You will receive a confirmation if the Activation Code is valid.


  5. Continue through the setup and click Sync.


  6. When the Sync is successful you will see a button labeled Let's Go! Press it when ready.


  7. The following page will be the default screen you will see when you open SyncCenter. You can plug in your FastTrakker Pro, as usual, to sync your collected records to your ExakTime Connect system.


Updating Your FastTrakker Pro & Time

Your FastTrakker Pro MUST be assigned to an employee to update the date & time.

With your new installation of SyncCenter installed and setup, you will need to update any FastTrakker Pros currently in use.

  1. While SyncCenter is open, connect your FastTrakker Pro to your computer with a USB Mini cable.
  2. Click FastTrakker at the bottom left.


  3. Click Update. This should update your FastTrakker Pro with the correct date and time.


Checking Time

After updating your FastTrakker Pro with the steps above, disconnect your FastTrakker Pro and confirm the date and time. It may take a few seconds for the date/time to appear on the screen.


Collecting from your JobClock & Updating Time

When you have confirmed that the date and time are correct on your FastTrakker Pro, you must collect from all compatible JobClocks to update the date time to match with your FastTrakker Pro. Once the collection is complete, your employees can begin to use your JobClocks.

If you are unsure how to collect from a JobClock with your FastTrakker Pro, you can refer to the following step:

  • With the FastTrakker Pro in hand, press the scroll button at the top to turn on the screen. It will initially show the name of the employee that has the FastTrakker Pro is assigned to.


  • While the screen is turned on, scroll through the available options with the scroll wheel until you see Collect Records.
    • If you see the options of Track and Collect, select Collect first, then you should see the Collect Records option listed above.


  • Press the scroll button so it says Click to Collect. Press the scroll button again. It will begin to alternate between Searching... and Aim at JobClock.


  • Aim the red IR Window at the front of the FastTrakker Pro towards the flashing lights at the front of the JobClock near the touch plate. The ideal distance between the two devices is 3-4 inches. They do not have to touch each other.



  • You should hear 2 beeps from the JobClock. The first beep indicates that they are connected, the second beep indicates that the collection has been completed.
  • After the collection has completed, the screen of the FastTrakker Pro will indicate that the collection was successful, the battery status of the JobClock and how many records were collected.
